India's Growing Overseas Strategic Arrangement
Zhang Li
Abstract: Since the Modi government came into power, India’s domestic and foreign policies have undergone adjustments, and the diplomatic policy gets aggressive. By enhancing interaction with great powers such as the US, Japan and other major countries in the region, India has expanded its development space and strategic impact, including pushing forward the “eastward operation,” connecting with the inland Eurasian channel via the Indian Ocean and Iran, and joining hands with Japan in the planning of the “Asian-African Development Corridor.” Although India’s motive for rise is part of the reason why it expands overseas strategic arrangement, it is an indisputable fact that it is targeted at China’s overseas strategy—the Belt and Road initiative. This will cause the regional pattern to be more complex and aggravate the strategic competition between China and India.
